Who we are?
Technology Enabled Care (TEC) offers us a way to do more with less, care closer to home and delivers benefits to our patients, citizens and workforce.
The benefits of utilising TEC have been highlighted in a number of national Health and Social Care strategies, but it was also recognised that the uptake of TEC in Wales was inconsistent and lacked robust evidence. To address this TEC Cymru was created in late 2018.
Funded by Welsh Government and hosted by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, it was set up to provide oversight and direction for TEC in Wales. We aim to support sustainable digital transformation at scale and pace.
Our multi-disciplinary team brings together skills and experience from health, social care, digital delivery, academia and industry. Bridging the gap between policy, strategy and funding, TEC Cymru works with a range of organisations to deliver services which can better meet user needs through technology.

What is Technology Enabled Care (TEC)?
Technology Enabled Care (TEC) describes the use of technology by professionals and citizens to support promotion, self-administration, monitoring and delivery of health or care services. By using technology in this way we can better prevent, manage and control harm or illness, slow down the progression of care needs, and maintain and promote independence in the home and community.
Broadly speaking it includes the following types of technology: Video Consulting, Telehealth and Telecare & Assistive Technologies.
