BGCBC- Cariad Flats & TEC Provision
The Cariad Scheme in Blaenau Gwent saw the development of 8 intermediate care units across Care Homes, Extra Care and Sheltered Housing Provision. The project promotes TEC within 5 of the Cariad Flats (across Extra Care and Sheltered Housing - please note home automation was only fitted within 2 of these cariad flats). The flats are for use by people affected by falls with dementia and cognitive impairments.
The technology types used include:
Automatic window,curtains and door closers, intercom, infra red based controllers, Canary System activity/inactivity monitoring, smoke/CO/flood detectors, My Homehelper and Mindme trackers.
Prevent unnecesary admission to hospital or long term care,
Facilitate timely discharge from hosptial/reduce DTOC,
Enable a person to live independently in their own home,
Help to improve a person's health, wellbeing and independence and wellbeing,
Reduce the need for people having to access longer term social care interventions
Reduction in number of people requiring long term care home placements,
Reduction in unnecessary admissions to hospital,
Reduction in number of people who require longer term social care interventions,
Increase in number of people who live independently in the community,
Enriched intelligence of the needs and future needs of people who are accessing the service.
